About Vaporizers

On this page you'll find answers on the most frequently asked questions and other important information about Vaporizers. The available topics are:

What is a Vaporizer?

With a Vaporizer you heat cannabis or dried herbs without combustion taking place, as is the case with regular smoking. This way you can optimize inhaling the active ingredients from a plant, such as cannabinoids and other essential oils, without ingesting the unwanted substances, such as tar and carbon monoxide, that are released during combustion.

How does a Vaporizer work?

Put your herb(s) inside the bowl of your vaporizer. Switch the vaporizer on or heat the bowl and wait for the vapour to form (takes about 3 minutes). You may notice that there isn’t much to see inside the bowl, however when you inhale through the mouthpiece, you will get the taste of the vapour.

The vaporizer heats the herbs to a temperature of around 180 oC, so that the active substances melt and form an aromatic vapor rich in cannabinoids such as THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD (Cannabidiol) and CBN (Cannabinol).

What are the advantages of using a Vaporizer?

Below we have listed some advantages of using a vaporizer:

  • Using a vaporizer is less harmful to the lungs. Scientific research shows that combustion produces substances that are harmful to health, such as tar and carbon monoxide.

  • Using a vaporizer is much more economical, because you can reuse the same weed or herbs 3 to 4 times in the vaporizer with good results. When smoking, the herbs are burned in one go and therefore used up, while in a vaporizer the herbs are released step-by-step. This way you can get more out of your herbs.

  • The vapor you inhale with a vaporizer is gentle on your lungs and has the nice taste of a green and floral aroma. Because no tar is released and nothing burns, you can experience the original taste and smell of the herb. In this way you can very well judge the quality of your herbs.

  • When using the vaporizer in combination with cannabis. The effect is very pure without getting stoned or drooping. You experience a pure high, where you continue to function well. It hits softer and works brighter than a joint, bong or pipe. Because you don't use tobacco with it, you avoid the addictive effect of nicotine. Tobacco and cannabis have opposite effects, with a combination of the two you get less high and more tired.

Which herbs can be used in the Vaporizer?

Plants / herbs rich in essential oils are particularly suitable for use in the vaporizer. The strong fragrance these plants give off is due to those essential oils. Essential means volatile, so that the oil evaporates quickly.

You can grow the herbs yourself, or buy them separately from a herbal drugstore or health food store. You can then put a drop of essential oil on, for example, a bud of cannabis, from which most of the flavor has already evaporated. This way you can give your evaporation goods a second life.

Some examples of herbs or plants that you can vaporize:

  • Cannabis: relaxation, appetite, etc.
  • Lavender: for the respiratory tract, relaxation.
  • Thyme: for the respiratory tract, diuretic, soothing.
  • Hyssop: for the lungs, to breathe more freely.
  • Sage: for the lungs, relaxes, makes you happier.
  • Eucalyptus: for the respiratory tract, relaxing, invigorating.
  • Rosemary: for the stomach, relaxing, stimulating.
  • Chamomile: relaxing.
  • Peppermint: refreshing.

Cannabis itself does not constrict the lungs, which tobacco does. Thyme and Hyssop can be combined very well together. Eucalyptus has a rather strong odor. Lavender is also better to use alone. Chamomile flowers can also be combined with cannabis. It softens and is relaxing. Especially with people who are used to smoking tobacco.
